Despite your recent marriage to dollar menus, your extreme paranoia over the cost of gas, your saddened demeanor upon walking away from ATM’s after making a withdrawal or balance inquiry, your new-found appreciation for the “Free On Demand” section, your re-energized enthusiasm for timeliness to ensure you and your friends arrive on time to the club as to avoid actually paying to get your groove on, and your pristine attendance record to classes because now your unit to tuition dollar ratio is actually affecting you.. I swore to myself that I wouldn’t cave in and write anything remotely related to my least favorite, fabricated and trademarked, “capitalism at its finest” “Holiday (?)”. Completely in denial, I realized, after walking through the mall on New Years Day, while all the window Santas were being replaced with scantily clad cupids, holly and fake snow with metallic hearts and “I <3 …” everywhere, that it very well is “that time of year”… again. Thus is the premise for this post. I still managed to talk about “The L-word” and get my matrix on, though. With the preface out of the way, let’s get to work! Continue reading »
